Scam Protection in the NEW 2011

Consumer Fraud Reporting is an free online service to warn consumers about specific types of financial and other scams via the internet and provide a means to report scams and fraud.

In addition to thousands of actual examples of scam letters, emails, faxes and transcripts of phone conversations to help you identify a scam, we have many pages of concise lists of contact information, links, phone numbers and guidance to help you report the scam to the proper authorities, and to try to recover your loss.

To keep up to date on the types of scams in global circulation we stay in regular contact with overseas consumer agencies. If you are interested in a breakdown on the most recent FBI reports of Internet Fraud, Scam and Crime Statistics, see this page.

Consumer Fraud Reporting is fully independent and objective; it is not a government agency or affiliated with any government; we act as an information exchange to help raise public awareness about scams and to help to bring them to the attention of the proper enforcement authorities. Unfortunately, we do not have enforcement powers over local or overseas scams; but we aim to help you to find the proper enforcement agency! We also try to present the facts in a simple, clear, and hopefully, interesting manner!

HIT Web Design SCAM former Heritage Web Solutions

Have you looked into Hit Web Design? I used to work there and the whole company thrives on shoving websites out the door as quickly as possible. They hire the cheapest least experienced developers to make as many websites as fast as possible irregardless of quality. If you do a google search for “Hit Web Design” not only is the 4th link “Hit Web Design Complaints” but at the bottom google even suggests, did you mean “Hit Web Design Complaints?” If you do a search for “Hit Web Design Complaints” you get thousands and thousands of complaints. The company used to be called “Heritage Web Design” but they changed their name to try and avoid all the complaints they have but it hasn’t worked. They continued to give poor service, products, and customer support. If you are interested in looking at the poor quality of work do a search for: link:hwswebcenter.com and it will pull up about 50 sites developed by HIT web design.

DO NOT get involved with HIT Web Design in any way shape or form. They have NO regard for anyone, including, and perhaps, especially, their customers. I have been trying for almost a month to see the first ideas for my company’s website. Not only have I seen nothing, I can’t get anyone to respond to my numerous phone calls and e-mails. Most of the people with whom I have spoken at HIT Web Design are amazingly arrogant and condescending. These twenty-something white males are so convinced of their importance and superiority over all other living creatures that they do not feel the need to assist their customers or fulfill the terms as outlined in their printed materials.

Buyer beware–HIT Web Design had their name changed recently from Heritage Design . There is much speculation, although I have no absolute proof, that the name change was due to the poor reputation that the company has had for some time.

One of the reasons that I originally cast my lot with HIT Web Design was the fact their company headquarters is located in Provo, Utah. I falsely assumed that these people would have only the highest integrity and ethical business practices. Was I ever wrong!

I would be shocked if HIT Web Design will even be in business by the end of the year. Do yourself a favor and do not repeat my costly mistake. Don’t walk; RUN away from HIT Web Design!!!

They automatically charge you for web hosting to the tune of 39.99 a month when they haven’t designed the website for you yet. It took six months to get it done and I was charged for every month even though it was in their hands.

I agree wholeheartedly, I actually left HWD and started my own web dev company competing directly. The funny thing is that many clients would call at random, and tell us hate stories about HWD, and we would say, oh really? i am so sorry, such a company should not be in business.

  4. They just got me on board it took nearly three months to get the site up and then when someone in their tech department crashed part of my site they tried to charge me $100 to fix what they ruined. One week later it is still not fixed and no one in any department will help me. I am launching a book and it is really hurting me. How sad. All they had to do was fix it. The integrity level seems really low at this company.

Wellllll, we obviously just got scammed as well. After an initial 3 week lapse in even starting “work” on our website, We finally got content writing, which was decent, but not great. Another lapse, then we had a “web design” guy start designing but couldn’t seem to do much without constant input from us. He had no ideas of his own and zero creativity. They wanted (and got) money up front to a total of $400. I finally called an cancelled everything and asked for a refund, which I have yet to see. It’s been a week and no response back via email and I haven’t seen my account credited. I have a sinking feeling it’s not coming at all.

Im still trying to get this company to finish what they started. They copied my guest book info. over to my new site but never pointed the page over. Now Im stuck with a guest book that I cannot take control over. If someone signs a rude comment, i cannot go in and remove it. And to top it all off, its still under the control of my last web-site designer so if they want to delete my guest book page, they can without me having any say over it.
Also, they used You Tube to put my video’s on my page yet charged $100.00 for the page. I have other people’s vids on my personal web-site along with mine. Its so ammiture.
Every time I call them, they say they will bring to there manager, they cant fix it. Then it doesnt go any higher and nothing is right on any of my pages.
Check my site out…. $800.00 and it looks like a child set it up. countrykimberly.com- Im totally imbarrassed over my business/performance web-site. CK
